Little Dragons (ages 3-4)

The Little Dragons class caters to our youngest students at Essex Shukokai Karate. Classes are on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m.

This gives children ages three and four (3-4) the opportunity to learn through playing in a safe environment. If they are able, students of Little Dragons may take the Saturday Ninja class as well.

We limit class sizes to 10 students, with the average attendance around six-to-eight students on the mat. This small class size gives a student/instructor ratio of no more than 4-to-1.

Little Dragons students learn the basics of karate: punching, kicking, and blocking and the various stances (fighting, horse, cat, and ready position). Emphasis on listening, safety, and following directions are key components of this program. We focus on flexibility, stamina, and muscle building through our fun-time section of the program. We strive to familiarize our students with Japanese terms where-ever possible (etiquette, counting, positions, etc.).

Children must be three (3) years of age and toilet-trained before they can enroll in Little Dragons. Please contact Sempai Lynn at 1-973-748-5282 to check on availability as there can be a waiting list for this class.
