Training Sessions
American Shukokai Karate Union (National)
For advanced belt levels (green and up), the national organization, American Shukokai Karate Union (ASKU), hosts training sessions quarterly. Students from any participating ASKU dojo are invited and encouraged to train with the leadership team. During the years when of the World Tournament, they hold weekly training sessions. These three-hour-or-more sessions give students an opportunity to train at other dojos with students from across the state and country—as well as with Shihan Bill Bressaw (9th degree/Dan), one of our world chief instructors. A Sukiyaki Party or some other prepared meal usually follows these training sessions, offering participants the chance to socialize with other students of the art. Separate fees apply for Training Sessions and are paid to the hosting dojo.
Essex Shukokai Karate (Local)
The Essex Shukokai Karate School will periodically host exclusive training sessions for students of our dojo. These training sessions are available to all dojo students and are a wonderful way to meet and train with all the belt levels and age groups. Sensei Justin DeSalvo (5th Dan) teaches these training sessions.
World Chief Instructors Course (International)
Once a year, Kimura Shukokai students are treated to a special event that showcases the expertise of the top technical shihans (teacher of teachers) at the World Chief Instructors Course (WCIC). This multi-day event is held in one of thirty different host countries.
Students from all over the world gather to focus on a particular technique and kata, taught by the cheif instructors. Separate fees apply for this special event, and it is open to all belt levels.
